despatch from the Governor Hong Kong,

regarding the filling of a post of

13 Ahad 1938

Deputy Shipping Master in the local

Mercantile Marine Office, which will

become vacant at the end of 1938.

It will be observed that the

FURTHER ACTION.

China Coast Officers' Guild have

represented that it is essential that

the person appointed to the post should

hold a Master Mariner's Certificate,

whilst the Governor proposes to

appoint Mr. W.R. Hillyer, an Officer

in the Harbour Department, who is

reported as being exceptionally

efficient but does not possess the

certificate
